Meet Jack Dahlgren

Humble Beginnings

Fun fact: Jack was born in Hong Kong. However, he grew up in Minnesota and spent much of his time in sports and time on the lake with friends and family. Playing multiple sports through middle school, he narrowed down to swimming only going into high school. Though he loved the other sports, he admired the objectivity to swimming where a time clearly can signify who is faster. One aspect from sports growing up that he has kept with him his entire career is the respect towards your competitors. He always shakes his peers’ hands before and after races.

Time at Mizzou

After seeing the success of his sister, Kylie, in the University of Missouri swim program, he chose to follow her footsteps and represent the Tigers. When granted an extra year of eligibility due to the interruptions of the Covid pandemic, he took it in a heartbeat due to the trust in his team and coaches. With this extra year, he completed his master’s in mechanical engineering where he participated in research revolving around improving the performance of heat sinks and harvesting wasted energy.

Outside the Pool

As an avid outdoorsman, he is committing his reach and knowledge towards the betterment of environmental protection and ways to reduce the impact of climate change. He has also been learning to play the guitar since the free time of the pandemic.
